1. From banker uniform to open silhouette
Who What Wear places pinstripes inside autumn’s darker new power dressing, while AP found “bankerly pinstripes” beside much looser layers at Ralph Lauren’s Milan menswear show. The useful idea is not Wall Street nostalgia, but contrast: a familiar code meets a shape that reads more freely today. On a men’s skirt, the stripe keeps its precision while shedding the rigidity of the complete business suit.
2. Vertical architecture
A convincing pinstripe is narrow, woven and almost neutral from a distance. Across knife pleats it appears and disappears in motion; on a wrap it shifts at the overlap; down a long column it remains quiet. Vogue notes Uma Wang’s enlarged chalk stripes on softly built wool-and-cashmere mixes. That tension matters: the line supplies order and the cloth keeps it from turning severe.
The stripe does not make the skirt stricter. It makes its movement legible.
3. Four lengths, four rhythms
Milan puts the chalk stripe on pressed pleats ending at the knee. Copenhagen translates it into a navy utility wrap below the knee, with one side pocket interrupting the beat. Florence warms the motif on taupe flannel and takes the overlap to the upper calf. Paris runs an almost-black graphite stripe through an ankle-length column. The longer the skirt, the quieter the contrast can be.
4. Top, colour and shoe
Stripes need room. Keep the shirt or knit solid and the jacket compact: charcoal with black, navy with pale grey, taupe with ivory and tobacco, black with one note of deep burgundy. Knee socks and slim boots extend the vertical at ground level. A second pattern, an oversized trainer or too much hardware would only break a rhythm that is already doing the work.
5. Men Can: authority without uniform
Wallpaper* frames A/W 2026 around the conscious construction of a persona, while Vogue France describes menswear breaking inherited rules and living in its clothes with confidence. For Nino Cappello, that is not costume. A masculinely engineered skirt and a classic pinstripe can express authority together without diminishing feminine, queer or non-binary expression. Men Can means choosing which traditions deserve to serve the wearer.
Four vertical combinations
One striped field, one calm knit and one clean boot shape per look: enough structure, no noise.

Charcoal double-breasted jacket + black mock neck + knee chalk-stripe pleats + knee socks + polished boots.

Ink overshirt + pale-grey merino + below-knee navy utility wrap + slate socks + lace-up boots.

Tobacco suede blouson + ivory roll neck + taupe midi wrap with cream stripes + dark-brown boots.

Cropped black leather + burgundy fine knit + long black pinstripe column + oxblood side-zip boots.
Sources, briefly
Current seasonal reporting grounds pinstripe, power tailoring and the freer reordering of classic menswear. Applying those signals to four men’s-skirt lengths is Nino Cappello’s editorial interpretation.
